There aren't many businesses in today's economy that can boast of being in operation for 70 years, particularly if they are family-owned. Crenshaws TV and Appliances in Pendleton not only can make that claim, but they are continuing to go strong. The store, founded by Horace Crenshaw, has been located in historic Pendleton, South Carolina since 1949 – opening first on Greenville Street and moved to its present location at 221 E. Main Street in 1968. Frank Crenshaw began working at his father's store in 1967. After the 1975 Pendleton High School graduate began attending Clemson University, he was put in charge of the business when the elder Crenshaw died in 1976.
